The Great War

Known as the Great War, World War I, and "The War to End All Wars," the first global conflict at the start of the twentieth century saw conflict on a scale and with an intensity the world had not yet seen.  A combination of militarism, alliances, nationalism, and imperialism; sparked by the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary, led much of Europe into war.
